Heated inlet upgrade

from £595+VAT (upgrade option)

The UHV4i modular electrospray deposition source can be fitted with an integrated inlet capillary heater. The vacuum side heater features maintains the inlet temperature at approximately 110 °C. The heated inlet can in many applications lead to more efficient desolvation of the electrospray plume.

Because the heater is mounted internally it doesn’t hinder changing the inlet capillary but rather provides an alignment block that ensures that each new capillary is reproducibly aligned with the first skimmer aperture whenever it is replaced. Because the heater is located inside the first stage of the UHV4i it does not interfere with the addition of different sources such as the EnviroCell and maintains our philosophy of building modular systems.

Upgrade components

The heated inlet upgrade exchanges the standard inlet flange with the heated version, and includes the connecting cable and an appropriately rated DC power supply. There is no control module or switch – the heater is on whenever power is connected to the miniature LEMO socket on the entrance flange.

The heated inlet is typically specified as an upgrade to be incorporated into the UHV4i at the time of ordering, however, it is also available as a retrofit upgrade and as for legacy UHV4 models for an additional cost.
